GameDay Online

I don't know how long this has existed, but my favorite TV show has a new website. I'm all giddy with the commercials and outtakes and such. You can ask Corso a question, I asked him "How with his clear lack of football knowlege and overall intelligence does he function on a day-to-day basis." I hope he answers soon.

Anyway, check it out here. This is good shit.

Open Letter to Mr. Sharp

Is it just me, Drew Sharp, or is every sports article you write intended to hurt people. You're not a sports writer, you're a sports critic with a shitty attitude. Is it in your contract to be mean? I need to know.

Just once, Mr. Sharp, just one time, I'd like to see you write about something you support or some sports figure you like. In your latest article, you rip Chris Webber. I then went through your article archive. You rip the Tigers. You rip the Lions. You rip the fans of my great hometown and I've had just about enough of it. You are a bitter man, Mr. Sharp, and there's only one way to stop you. I'm gonna take your job.

It may take a couple years, but be looking over your shoulder, because as Lee Corso says, "He's a coming". I'm gonna write every day and send my greatest sports masterpieces to your editor. I'm gonna hone my stylistic prose and create a form that makes other sports writers wince in fear. Maybe not Bill Simmons or Mitch Albom, 'cause they're like the bomb and stuff, but like the average writers and hacks. There will be so much buzz around my writing, larger papers and magazines will want me, but because of you, the only place I'll consider is the Free Press. And when I get there, piece after piece will be written about promise and hope for the great sports teams of the town I love. And it'll eat away at you, Mr. Sharp, oh, how it'll eat away at you.

I respect you Drew Sharp. You don't get to where you are without writing like a motherfuckin genius. I only wish you would get a grip and start enjoying what you have and what you're doing, 'cause it seems like you hate the D and everything its sports teams stands for. You have one of the greatest jobs in all the world, Mr. Sharp, and if you don't start treating it with some respect, I'll make good on my promise.

Regretfully out to end your career in Detroit,

Shock-ing

I can appreciate the WNBA. I think at one time, I was even a supporter. I rooted for Korie Hlede when she was in Detroit and Chamique Holdsclaw when she came into the league from Tennesse a couple years ago. But at no time in it's 7, maybe, year history have I ever made it through a complete game or bothered to see how any team was doing.

Saying all that, I think I'm a bigger WNBA fan than 99% of the guys out there. So when the Detroit Shock won the championship last night, I tuned in. I was proud of them. I was proud of the coach and past Piston Bill Laimbeer. And I was proud of Davidson for agreeing to change the Palace of Auburn Hills road to "3" Championship Lane instead of the "2" from Piston championships. It was a class act all around.

It was even kinda cute that ESPN2 covered all the post-game festivities like they do for the guys in the NBA and they even showed the champaign showers and locker room fun. But I noticed something in all the festivities that really got me excited about the whole event and put the perfect capper on the Shock season.

That's right. Take another look at the photo to your left. 40s of Colt 45. I'd never been so proud of Detroit in my life.

Insight From The Other Side

You all know I like to see what other team's media are saying before big games against Michigan. Usually it's some sort of false hope article or how well they match up against the boys in Maize 'n Blue. Until I came across John Canzano from The Oregonian. Yes, I said The Oregonian. Apparently, he's just excited Oregon is playing a school like Michigan.

He even goes on to say that Oregon may be the most untested of the undefeated teams and Michigan could very well win 50-21. Boy John, way to get your Duck fans hyped.

Weekend o' Football

Another college football weekend is upon us and since I'm not going to spend the time to give you the breakdown of the games, I'm gonna link you to John Allen over at NBC Sports who does a great job of putting it all together and making some predictions.

He picked Virginia over the Lou Holtz led South Carolina Gamecocks at home and he went .500 with his predictions last week, so don't go calling your bookie or anything like that. But it's one of the best rundowns of the games I've seen, so take a minute and peruse.

I asked the kid above what he thought of Allen picking Georgia Tech over Auburn. Let's just say he was a little irritated.
