Chris Fowler...

I can't figure out if my eyes are watering from my new contacts or from the opening of this Chris Fowler story on the Michigan/Ohio State series. I can't even say 1997 without getting all emotional. Thanks for link Harvard - good looking out...

Top 10 Browns...

So this is funny. ESPN Page 2 asked readers to write in with their favorite Browns of all time. You know, like Jim Brown, Charlie Brown, etc. I like when they do this kind of stuff - pretty funny to hear what people have to say. Number 10, Lou Brown, manager of the Indians in Major League. That's a stretch. Anyways, I was wondering where Demetrius Brown, the greatest QB in Michigan "Bo Ball" football history. Hey, he won a Rose Bowl...

Krenzel...

Please go to the ESPN home page and check out the headline - Vanilla Ice? Come on. Please. Yeah, yeah - the kid has a lot of heart and I will admit that he alone beat the Falling Illini last week, but seriously, does he deserve front page billing?

Ohio State Fans...

We've all seen them before. With their stained wife-beaters and big-haired girlfriends. They come from small towns in Ohio with nicknames like the "The Fort" and "The Ditch". All their pro sports teams suck - have you seen the Browns, Bengals, or Cavaliers lately - not pretty, so Ohio State football is life for them. I've said it before and I'll say it again - Ohio State fans are scary - almost Deliverance scary when it comes to football.

This rivalry folks is special. Screw you, Alabama/Auburn. Bite me, UCLA/USC. Negro please, Army/Navy - Michigan/Ohio State is the best rivalry game in football. This weekend's game promises to be one of the best we've seen in years, and the best part of the game might even come after the final second ticks off the clock. Ohio State fans have been preparing for this for weeks. Win or lose - these "Bucknut" idiots will rush the field, wreck absolute havoc in Columbus, and probably rival our friends in Lansing for "greatest after game festivities screw-ups". Anyway you look at - Michigan win or lose, I will be glued to the TV for this one. The way I see it, I think I might even want Michigan to lose - can you imagine what these hillbillies will do to our players if we pull the rug out from under them once again? Sure it would be sweet, but watching Marlin Jackson getting beatin down by guys named Bubba and Tiny doesn't sound good for the program.

Oh well, I leave you with two things. One my favorite Michigan/Ohio State story. It's a new story, but an instant classic. Last year, my mom and dad went down to Columbus to spend Thanksgiving with my dad's brother and his wife. As I understood, all was going well until the game started. Every year they have a friendly wager on the game and since Michigan usually comes out on top, my dad is usually pretty cocky about the games. Talking about how "Michigan doesn't look all that great this year, but I'm sure they have enough left in the tank for OSU" - you know, like it's fate or something that we beat our "southern neighbors". Well, as you all know, last year, Ohio State pulled it out in the Big House. And apparently, the aunt and uncle decided to let the old man have it. They started to tear into Michigan pretty good and he decided he had HAD enough. To make a long story short, mom and dad left Columbus earlier than expected that Thanksgiving weekend - that night. Now, keep in mind, neither my dad or my uncle or aunt went to Michigan or Ohio State. This little game is big folks, trust me when I say it.

Second, take a look at this article from the Michigan Daily on our scary neighbors. Kinda funny.

Saying All The Right Things....
I can say one thing about Michigan athletes. Before big games like the one this Saturday, Lloyd has them so well-versed on what to say, its absolutely ridiculous. Maybe he should spend a little less time on press practice, and a little more time on the playbook. Just a simple observation. Anyway - take a look at Tony "The Puppet" Pape's press conference. (They really call him "Fat Elvis", but due to the contents of this story, I think "The Puppet" kinda fits..."

Another gem of an article from Bill Simmons....

Fantasy drafts are hilarious by themselves when you get a bunch of drunk guys together. Mix in his classic wit and writing ability and you have a great piece of writing...
Right here mister

So I'm changing the focus of this page of the site. Instead of focusing on just football - all sports related articles will now be posted here. I think this will work better for everyone involved...which means me.
